Ridefree – Free Online Training for Learner Riders

Important: Before Booking Your CBT

If you hold a provisional driving licence, you must either:

  • Hold a valid motorcycle theory test pass, or
  • Have completed the free DVSA Ridefree online course

This requirement does not apply to students with a full UK driving licence

What is Ridefree?

Ridefree is a free online training course developed by the DVSA, National Highways, and
industry partners. It is designed to help new moped and motorcycle riders prepare for a
lifetime of safe, responsible riding.

The Ridefree Course Covers:

  1. Highway Code & Hazard Perception
  2. Clothing, Equipment & Maintenance
  3. Rider Behaviour & Risk Awareness
  4. Road Conditions & Environment
  5. Practical Tips for New Riders

What If You Don’t Complete Ridefree?

  • It’s not legally required — you may still take your CBT if you’ve passed your theory test.
  • If you have only a provisional licence, Ridefree is required by many training schools (including A1 Elite) before CBT booking.
  • Failing to complete it may lead to training being cancelled and loss of deposit.
